Describe your company
Tell ShowPilot what your product does, how you sell it and how your company sounds, so every tour it writes starts from your facts.
Every tour ShowPilot writes for you starts from your company context. When it knows your product's terms, your sales motion and your house voice, a first draft reads like your team wrote it, and your reviewers correct less.
This article covers filling in Settings → Context, what to write in each field, and how to check it's reaching your tours.
Where do you describe your company?
Go to Settings → Context and stay on the Context tab. The page has three fields and a Save button. It's one set of context for your whole workspace, and every tour reads it.
You're in the right place when tour copy gets your product's terms wrong, pitches the wrong next step, or sounds like somebody else's company.
How do you fill in your company context?
Open the Context tab
Go to Settings → Context. The Context tab is selected when the page opens.
Describe your product
In Product context, write what the product does, its main features, and the terms your team uses for them. Use the names that appear on your screens, so the copy matches what a viewer sees.
Describe how you sell
In Go-to-market context, write your sales motion, your pricing model, who buys, and the calls to action you use, such as booking a call or starting a trial.
Describe how you sound
In Voice & tone, write how formal your company is on the page, how you build sentences, and any words to use or avoid.
Save
Select Save. saved ✓ appears next to the button when it's stored.
What should you write in each field?
Write facts and preferences, the way you'd brief a new writer on your team. ShowPilot turns them into its own sentences, so you don't need polished copy.
| Field | Write | Leave out |
|---|---|---|
| Product context | What the product does, feature names, the terms on your screens. | Claims you can't show. Put proof for a hub under its Knows group instead. |
| Go-to-market context | Who buys, how they buy, the next step you want them to take. | Details for one account. Those belong in a hub's The account field. |
| Voice & tone | Formality, sentence style, words to use or avoid. | Instructions for one tour. Write those in the tour's brief. |
Where is your company context used?
- New tours. When you create a tour with ShowPilot ✦ writes for turned on, the draft starts from all three fields.
- Rewrites. When you select Rewrite ✦ on a tour's Audiences panel in the builder, the new copy reads them again.
- Capture descriptions. ShowPilot uses Product context for vocabulary when it describes each screen you capture.
- Hub drafts. ShowPilot uses Product context when it drafts a hub's Knows fields from its captures.
Tours that were already written keep their copy until you rewrite them.
The agent in an ordinary conversation on your site doesn't read this page. It describes your company from the Brand card on its Persona tab. See The agent editor.
Test it
Your company context is working when:
- You open a tour in the builder and select Script.
- You open Audiences, pick an audience and select Rewrite ✦.
- The new copy uses your product's terms and your call to action.
You can also open any hub's Context tab. The Workspace row in What the agent already knows shows the text you saved.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | What to check |
|---|---|
| A tour still uses the old wording | Tours keep their copy until rewritten. Select Rewrite ✦ on the tour's Audiences panel. |
| The Workspace row on a hub says nothing is set | Check you selected Save on Settings → Context and saw saved ✓. |
| A screen description uses the wrong product terms | Update Product context, then open the screen with Edit context and select Autofill with AI. |
| The agent describes your company wrongly in chat | Edit the Brand card on the agent's Persona tab. This page only reaches tours. |
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to fill in all three fields?
No. Fill in what applies. Each field you add gives the tour writer more to work from.
Is this the same as the Brand card on an agent?
No. Settings → Context is for tours. The Brand card on an agent's Persona tab is what that agent says about your company in conversation. If you run both, keep them consistent.
Does ShowPilot fill this in from my website?
No. You type it. ShowPilot drafts other layers for you, such as screen descriptions and a hub's Knows fields.
Will tour copy quote my context?
No. It's a brief for the writer. The copy is written in ShowPilot's words, in your voice.
