Getting started with ShowPilot

Where everything lives, the order to set it up in, and how to tell your first agent is ready for real visitors.

A ShowPilot agent works the visitors already on your website. It answers product questions from your own content, learns who the visitor is and what they need, and moves the right ones toward a meeting with your team. It can also present a product tour in the conversation, so a buyer sees the product instead of reading about it.

This guide covers setting up your first agent: where everything lives, what order to do it in, and how to tell when it's ready for real visitors.

Where does everything live in ShowPilot?

Everything starts from the left sidebar. When the sidebar is collapsed it shows icons only, so hover over an icon to see its name, or expand the sidebar.

What is the setup order for your first agent?

  1. Create the agent from Agents → New agent. See Create an agent.
  2. Add the content it should answer from on its Training tab, or attach a shared set from Knowledge. See Add knowledge.
  3. Shape how it speaks and what it pursues on the Persona and Scripts tabs. See The agent editor.
  4. Set up meeting booking in Settings → Meetings, and have each rep connect a calendar. See Set up meeting booking.
  5. Test it on the Coach tab, then select Publish. See Preview and publish.
  6. Approve your domain and add the web tag to your site. See Put your agent on your site.
  7. Connect your CRM and Slack so leads and meetings reach your team. See Integrations.
  8. Watch results in Insights and read conversations in Conversations. See Insights.

Knowledge first is worth the discipline. An agent with the right sources needs far less correction later.

How do you check your first agent is ready?

Before you send visitors to it, confirm that:

  • The editor header shows the agent as live, with the revision you expect.
  • The agent answers at least three common buyer questions correctly on the Coach tab.
  • Asking to book a meeting brings up the booking option.
  • Your domain is approved in Settings → Targeting, and the web tag is on your site.
  • After a test conversation on your site, the conversation appears in Conversations.

Frequently asked questions

Does my agent go live as soon as I create it?

No. A new agent starts as a draft that only you can see. It reaches visitors once you publish it and the web tag is on a page of an approved domain.

Do I need a developer to get started?

Not for building the agent. You'll need someone who can add one script to your website when you're ready to go live.

Can I try the agent before it's on my website?

Yes. Use the Coach tab to ask it questions, or select Preview on your site to see the draft on your own pages.

Where do I add the content my agent answers from?

Add pages, snippets or PDFs to one agent on its Training tab. To share the same content across several agents, build a set under Knowledge and attach it to each one.

Where do I see whether the agent is working?

Insights shows meetings, qualified conversations and pipeline across your agents. Conversations has every conversation in full.
